"Cancelled Anniversary"

Today I live in freedom.
Five years before, my chain
Was a band o’er the vein of the heart,
Numbing all to come,
Except one stubborn pain:
Unruly affection to art,
Which love cast off the bond
Of normal humankind
To pursue in its place the ideal
Of flying—falling to some.
Beyond feeling, I feel:
Liberation unfastened my home.
